Hiya, I am Rodin and I currently race SKAA speedway karts in Victoria, Australia as a member of Yarra Valley Speedway Kart Club. Unlike a lot of those in Speedway or other various forms of Motorsport, I did not come from a background relating to either. For sport I did gymnastics and was at one point, afraid to get my drivers licence. Until I got into racing, I was afraid to try a lot of things and was "in my shell". As soon as my foot hit the pedal however, it all changed.
My ultimate goal is to encourage other girls or those who come from non-racing backgrounds to have a go and try motorsport. I want to give back what the sport has given me which is confidence, drive and amazing relationships which I have formed with others in the racing community.

After moving to Melbourne to live with my boyfriend Darryn and his family who is heavily into speedway, they somehow convinced me to have a go and hop into a kart during a fun day. Turns out I enjoyed it! So much so I had to pull in during my first run for Darryn to tune it as I was giving it too much.
Darryns dad then spent many hours in the shed putting together a hot pink BRK Gambler kart for me to run in my first season. I was lucky to start while there were enough other senior women drivers to make up a ladies class. Without them I would not have had the confidence at first to get into the field with other drivers.

Racing hit the skids (pardon the pun) in 2020 due the pandemic. This did not stop us from getting the racing fix in iRacing however!
Luckily there were some events held at the later part of the year to shake the rust off.
ACHEIVEMENTS 🏆
We were still dealing with the pandemic in 2021 but I was able to attend a few events held through the year. During this year, I took part in the two of the largest meetings since I started karting which was the Ironman 55 and the Mildura All Power Nationals.
I didn't expect much of a result for either as I had the least amount of experience in comparison to the majority of my competitors but I gave it my best shot. This in itself was worth it as I had so much fun in the process.
At the All Power Nationals I was one of the fastest on track in the Ladies class and had a blast ripping around the outside in the final, which has given me a reputation.
ACHIEVEMENTS 🏆
2022 was HUGE. I raced as much as I could to make up for losing the last two years to the pandemic. The foundation I built in the ladies class allowed me to gain enough confidence to bang elbows with a lot of skilled racers in the Standard class. I ran this class for the whole year except for running in the Ladies class at the Australian Title.
This was my first Australian Title which we travelled all the way to South Australia for to run at Borderline Speedway. It was an incredible experience to see so many skilled racers from across the country come together and race their hearts out.
I was fortunate to run this season in Darryns kart, a BRK Limit which is a whole lot younger than the Gambler. The two karts handled very differently but ultimately, I liked the Limit better.
ACHIEVEMENTS 🏆
2023 may be shaping up to my biggest year yet. After the whirlwind year of 2022, it was full steam ahead into 2023. Started the year with a fancy new livery designed by myself and Darryn and made by Chris at Tech Graphics. This new livery was on my very own kart.
This year I have started to form goals and a direction with my racing which includes racing as much as possible. Unfortunately there have been many rain-outs, however we have still been able to run all big events. This included my first run in the Victorian Title.

ACHIEVEMENTS 🏆
It just keeps getting better and better! I was incredibly lucky to have a drive in a V8 Dirt Modified for a few meetings thanks to Tony Moore. This included two state titles which was such an amazing experience! It was awesome to be among the best in the country at one of the hugest tracks at the country, Heartland Raceway, Moama. The track was completely slick top to bottom for both nights so it added to a trinity of tracks I experienced in the car, Avalon Raceway, Nyora Speedway and Heartland. I have a soft spot for these machines as they are mighty and I love the RUMBLE. I am incredibly thankful to Tony for trusting me and giving me that opportunity.
I committed to the Standard class for go kart this season and raced consistantly at the meetings we could make it to.
ACHIEVEMENTS 🏆
This seasons racing program is looking to be another big one with Karts and V8 Dirt Modified races on the calendar.
Scott Motorsports has been lucky enough to obtain a partnership with INOX Lubricants who we are excited to work with as their products are quality and critical to the maintenance of our cars.
For the karts, I am taking a side step into the Outlaw class as my main goal this year is to run in the All Power Nationals in Mildura with it! I've also taken up the role as Secretary for YVSKC this year.
And because we can't get enough.. we've added another car to the shed, a Formula 500 (Micro). This will be an ongoing project as this class of car is completely new to the team. We hope to have it running by the end of the season.
ACHIEVEMENTS 🏆
As mentioned previously, I have started to form goals and build a direction for my racing career. In 2022 I was accepted into the NAPA Motorsport Academy which has been a fantastic starting point in building the skills needed to grow. You are seeing this website as a result of what I have learnt!
My journey would not have started without people like Darryn, his dad and the rest of his family - Scott Motorsports putting in time, money and a whole lot of effort to get me racing week after week. Not to mention the rest of the speedway family that are there to support me and cheer me on from behind the fence. They do it for the love of it and I want to start giving that back by helping out the racing community and become more involved.
While this journey is still young in comparision to others, I want to make the most of the time I have with the sport to get myself out there, race my hardest, learn new skills both off and on the track and make friends along the way. As a result, hopefully I encourage more women to get into the sport because if I can, they can too!
